For us ladies, Bible discussion should pertain to issues that are specifically aimed at women, taught by Godly older women, to the younger women. Topics will be found in the list of Scripture below.
Appropriate forum interaction will be in the form of:- Personal testimonies
- story illustrations (a friend's testimony)
- questions
- answers which are texts from the Bible
- Doctrinal opinions are also allowed if prefaced with "In my opinion" and "I believe" or "my husband says."
An inappropriate statement (subject to deletion) will look something like this:
"Proverbs 31 clearly shows that women can work outside the home." An appropriate rendering will read:
"I believe that Pro 31:16, She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard., is evidence that a virtuous woman can take a job outside the home." Consider the difference: The first example leaves little room for discussion, and any disagreement is personal. It also sets the author up as a final authority, making Scripture of "private interpretation."
The second example assumes that Scripture is the final authority, and that it is
not of private interpretation. Disagreement with the second example would not be personal, but rather a difference in Scriptural understanding, leaving room for the readers to come to agreement or disagreement based on an understanding of the text itself.
Some Scriptural Guidelines for Women:1) The purpose of this forum is to place ourselves in subjection to the Scriptures. (not doctrines, not popular teachings, not political correctness, not...)
2) The Scripture directly states: 1Cr 14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.3) Older women (aged, greater in years and experience) can teach the younger women some specific things:Tts 2:4 That they may teach the young women to
- be sober,
- to love their husbands,
- to love their children,
- [To be] discreet,
- [To be] chaste,
- [To be] keepers at home,
- [To be] good,
- [To be] obedient to their own husbands,
that the word of God be not blasphemed. 4) A woman that can teach the above subjects is known thus: Tts 2:3 The aged women likewise, that [they be] in - behaviour as becometh holiness (see above list),
- not false accusers
- not given to much wine
- teachers of good things;
Thank you for helping me keep this section of the forum friendly and in direct response to the texts of the Bible,
