So for all those non-vaxers out there I have a question ? I generally treat all of our childrens illnesses at home  , after all I am Herbalmama !   Cheesy  Anyway today I had to take Juleah (5) to the doc because of some health issues and becuase it was on short notice we didnt get their regular doc and the whole immunization thing came up and I just said " We dont immunize we have a religious exemption with the state"  Well he then wanted to know what " religion " we were and what particular religious beliefs we held that kept us from getting the kids shots. I was tongue tied ! I can usually debate the pros and cons of vaccintions better than a political activist    Cheesy   but he caught me completely off guard and I stuttered about ,mentioning that we are hard core pro-lifers but that wasnt the only reason we dont immunize. I think I didnt come across too  well at all   Undecided
So do  any of you have a short reply you have when speaking with your doc  as far as why your religious beliefs keep you from getting  your childrens vaxes ? I dont want to go on a ten minute spiel about what we believe about vaxes and why but certainly need a short and sweet reply .

My only reply would be, "We have the required state exemption paperwork."  That is all that they legally need to know, and after that, they are just being nosy :-)

"My husband and I have done a lot of research on the subject, and based on the pros and cons of both sides, plus our lifestyle and habits, we feel that withholding immunizations from our children is the best choice for our family at this time."

"Our religion states that our bodies are the temple of God and we are not to defile them."  [contamination of the blood and DNA structure by vaccinations surely falls under defiling]

"We cannot be involved with anything of an occult nature."  [pig's blood, chicken embryos, cow brains, monkey kidneys, aborted human fetal cells:  I challenge anyone to convince me that these are "normal" things that belong in a Christian's bloodstream.  Call it what it is: a witch's brew]

"Our religion requires that we petition God for healing of diseases." [Remember how Asa died and it was emphasized that he was bankrupted by doctors, yet never once asked God for healing.]

These are some of my random ideas.  I also found the following off vaclib.org:

The Bible teaches that there are clean and unclean animals and that God's people are not to put the unclean into their bodies (Deuteronomy 14). Furthermore, the Bible teaches that "Ye shall not eat of anything that dieth of itself"; (Deuteronomy 14:21) and "that flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat". (Genesis 9:4) Vaccines are often made of, or embodies, fetuses or eggs of said unclean creatures. The process of creating the vaccine often causes said creatures to die in the process (i.e., dieth of itself). Many vaccines are made in or of the blood of diseased animals. ..

"And hearing this, Jesus said to them, 'It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.'"
(Mark 2:17) [not sure if that is KJV, but you get the point]

One of the many things I have learned from my very intelligent husband....the less you say, the better, in most circumstances. I would go along with something like WithLoveandJoy mentioned above. I would also remain calm and unemotional, as the opposite tends to portray insecurity and may make it an issue when perhaps it isn't. Maybe the doctor was just curious. Either way, they have no right to do anything about it, so it doesn't much matter.

I just wanted to say thanks for all of the replies   Smiley  I guess the biggest problem was that Juleah didnt get to see her "regular " doctor who heads up that office .I guess "regular " isnt even the proper word as my children see the doctor an average of once a year or so.But the doc who usually sees them knows that we treat illness first with much prayer then with utilizing the proper herbal remedies then if needed we turn to the doctor again after prayer and we don't immunize and while she doesn't agree with us is very kind and understanding .Also it is in their charts that they are not immunized so as a general rule it is not a problem . The reason this new doc wanted to know was becuase of the nature of Juleahs illness and what he needed to be on the lookout for, also he had never seen her or her chart before.
I agree with the need to remain calm and unemotional it send sa message that we are confident in our beliefs (which we are !  Smiley )and well informed about our decision.
Wing I absolutely love the first sentence in your post I think that will be my short and sweet answer from now on.My dh is also a firm believer in "less is more " when it comes to our words unfortunately he is very very busy man so he is very  rarely able to be with me when one of our children are seen at the doctors.

I would say, "We are Holiness." Are faith prohibits us from participating in such medical practices. What is holiness? Oh we are very similar to the Amish. Go Amish and they shut up. Or go Jevohah Witness and they completely understand. Don't have to go into the thing about immunizations or you could just try to change the subject totally. That works during times of Christmas or the holidays when someone says, "Merry Christmas." I say, lovely day isn't it. Or make mention about the man or woman's hair or tie or clothing. Works great. I don't blame you I have immunizations and will not take them after finding out that they are very harmful and experimental. I am no one's guinea pig.

We always just deferred the conversation by saying, "We're not ready to do that yet."  Until I did share once that the older children had not yet been vaxed, I was told we needed to come back and was scheduled to see the head of the practice~who then kicked us out of said practice.  (((((HUGS)))))  sandi

When it comes to me using herbs and having to tell doctors I just say it out right bluntly. I think it helps if we show that we are not uneducated too. If we just say something like "I dont like this or that shot or medical treatment" but give no backing as to why then it isnt going to go over well. The same goes with using religion as a reason to not do certain medical treatments, they are more likely to think we are radical nut cases if we claim religion.

I have said things to docs like:

"I use Chromium to help decrease the insulin resistance  since it has been proven that someone with insulin resistance is lacking in the mineral called Chromium"

or

"I was able to lower my cholesterol by eating lots of avacadoes instead of taking the statin pills since avacadoes are full of the good fat and good cholesterol"

When I say something like that it normally chills them out and they dont say to much. I have actaully had good outcomes with talking to medical professionals about herbs. I think it is all how we present it and say it. Of course there will always be those who make trouble about it but that cant be helped.

The medical industry is not all out to get us and make us take shots and other medical treatments. There are lots of medical folks who use herbs and natural treatments themselves.
