the title explains it all. My cat scratched me and I cleaned it out really well but 2 days later my whole finger is swelled up. I can't even bend it without pain.
this came on fast last evening. At 1 this morning I soaked it in epsom salts and gse. But can anyone think of anything else I should be doing? Or something better to soak it in? Is there a particular herb I could use as a poultice to draw out infection?
   any help is so appreciated!

Beth...
I would consider using some tea tree oil and garlic (goot) in addition to what you are already using topically.  Also consider using something with oreganol internally..... NOW's Allibiotic, North American Oreganol, or Beeyoutifuls UltraImmune would all be a good place to start.
Make sure you are well hydrated, too.

Our cat got a claw into the chest of one of the boys when he was around 3 and to this day at almost 17 he has a fanned out reddish place surrounding that puncture. It had never been "infected" per se, but what a strange thing? No one has ever been able to explain what happened.

yes, I have oreganol. Thanks for the reminder. I also think I have teatree oil. Good idea. Thanks.
I do know that you can get some kind of virus from cat scratches. But I'm not sure what would cause the red area after so many years. Maybe apiece of the claw still there??

No, it's not got anything in there, but it's like the tiniest little spider veins when you look really closely at it , in the skin, about the size of a  half dollar, and when you touch it, the redness turns white and then blushes back. Guess he'll just have that....  Huh

that is really strange!  My finger is getting better. But I'm tellin' you don't let your cat scratch you. If it does clean it out really, really well. Maybe even soak it in epsom salts and GSE for a while.   it was so swelled up I couldn't even bend it. It felt like there was a fever in it.
This is what I did. I took Oreganol internally. I soaked it in epsom salts and GSE several times a day for two days. I read that onion draws infection out so I made a poultice out of onion and goot and wrapped it up, leaving it on all night and some during the day. Two days of this and most of the infection seems to be gone. Whew! I am more than a little mad at my cat! She is an outdoor cat and I have a brace on my wrist and apparantly she didn't like it. I walked by her and she just jumped up and scratched my hand. All I can figure is she didn't know what that wrist brace was. Crazy cat!

I would also consider the plantain tincture in ACV that Shoshanna made in her herb video with Debi Pearl.... it should have an astringent/pulling effect if used to clean the wound initially.

I haven't watched the video yet but that sounds like something good to have on hand. Just make the tincture with plantain and ACV? Let it set for 3 weeks or so?

I do prefer fresh plantain in making this one over dried (personal preference) but pretty much what you just said.
