Dd tries so hard to get her rough and tumble little brother to play house with her.  Today, she was bragging on her brother and said
"Mom, we ran out of wipes for our baby so Justin just wiped her booty with his gun"   ROTFL Cheesy Cheesy

She was so sincere and encouraging. Cheesy

that is funny!! LOL

We  live across the country from our oldest and his family.  I call them about once a week just to talk to our grandchildren.

Today when I called the house phone, my five year old granddaughter answered the phone nicely.
I said, "Hello, Linsey!"
She gasped a bit, then said, "Hey, Dad!  Your mother is calling me!"

She's finally figuring out a little about family relationships.   Cheesy

I love to talk on the phone to my grandaughter too! She's just learning how to talk, so it takes a bit of language studies to understand her! The last time I "talked" to her she was telling us something about "cool daddy"...I think she was coached! Cheesy You could hear our son laughing in the background!

So yesterday 8 month old Batman was reaching to touch something he shouldn't and I gave his hand a little thump and said, "No, don't touch."  He pulled his hand back and looked at it, looked around the room as if trying to figure out what just happened, and then he began to reach for the item that was off limits again... paused.... and then stuck his elbow out and touched it.   Grin

I don't know how Mr. Mac and I, as even tempered and easy going as we are, keep having these incredibly stubborn children!   Wink  (tenacious.... lets just call it tenacious.)

Aren't they amazingly clever?  That's like my 16 mo DS who was told not to go into the bathroom, so he decided he would see what would happen if he went and put a toe across the "line" into the bathroom.  Yep, he still had to be switched.  Wink

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Thought this was cute . . .  Smiley

So today, my 5-1/2yo son says, "Mom, I don't want to use that bathroom. I want to keep it clean, b/c I just finished cleaning it." Yay! Can I say, "VICTORY!" I think he might finally be getting it. Smiley When they are included in the daily chores, they begin to appreciate what it takes to get it all done and ...keep it nice. WOW!! That makes me feel good! Smiley

This is the conversation I had with my 4yo dd this morning while making lunch.

Liv: "Mom! I know what we could have for breakfast tomorrow! A big bowl of chocolate chips!"

me: "hmm. that won't be happening in this house anytime soon"

Liv: "But we would use spoons!"

I saw a decorative sign at the store the other day, and almost bought it and  hung it in my kitchen.

"Chocolate... it's not just for breakfast anymore"

Didn't want to give myself any ideas tho. Scratch that.... didn't want to cause myself to stumble any more than I already do. :-)

Haven't you heard? The metal in the spoons takes all the bad stuff out of the chocolate and replaces it with vitamins and minerals necessary to the human female body. So eating with spoons really DOES make it possible on your diet!   Wink Cheesy

When do we bring our spoons to Amy's house?  Cool

I'm sorry, but by the time your spoons got here, the chocolate would probably be gone.  Undecided I could make another costco run though!

So today I'm feeding DS#2 his lunch, and when we get to the applesauce, DD#1 says she has to "go potty."  Smiley  Well, a few minutes pass, and I start to wonder if everything's okay since she's not calling for me and I'm not hearing any noise coming from the bathroom.  So I go to help her, and when I return to the table, DS#1 (almost 6yo) has taken over feeding the applesauce, looks up and says, "Don't worry, Mom.  I got this.  You've got a lot to do.  I'll take care of this for you."  It was funny and sweet/cute at the same time.  Smiley

Yesterday, DS#1 asked me where our blood comes from, and I answered that it's pumped through our heart and our bones have to do with it, too, somehow. Well, anyway, DD#1 was sitting there, and b/c she's had some nosebleeds in the past, she pipes up very matter-of-factly,"My blood comes from my nose." I was laughing so hard that DD#2 starting kicking me. It was sooo funny!! Smiley

When Grandma came to town I thought it might be a good idea to have some convenient baby food around while she was here so I bought several packs of Gerber naturals.  Last night I was feeding Batman some of the squash baby food and Mo asked, "Momma, what's that?"  I replied, "Well, it's baby food that I bought from the store.  It's squash.  Would  you like to try it?"  and she answered "Yes."  So I gave her a spoonful and her eyes got big and her face wrinkled up and she exclaimed, "OH!  POOR BRUCY!"

A family discussion was held regarding the allowance of pets. It was decided that, if the person who brought the pet home took on all responsibility, then pets were allowed. My daughter had been sitting thoughtfully in the corner until now, when she decided to submit her request: "Are tigers a lot of upkeep?" At my horrified expression she quickly added "I promise I will take care of it myself!"

Yes, this is the same dd who once asked if she could keep an elephant in the backyard. We told her no, it was too big.  So she asked for a giraffe instead.  Cheesy

We expect to be visiting her zoo when she is older.

My youngest daughter was like that... when she was about five....she looked out the window of our house and saw a skunk walking along the edge of the swamp.... she got very excited and promptly told me "let's catch it!"   Shocked

I was concerned enough that she would actually give it a go, that I talked very seriously to her that she was not allowed to even try!  LOL!!

And yes, we have had many kinds of pets... its been interesting! Wink
