Does anyone have advice for living on a third shift schedule? I have just finished college (yay, graduation!) and so my schedule has freed up. I'll be staying home for now, as Dh and I have learned how hard it is one both of us when our schedules are so different, and so I'm wondering if anyone has any tips, tricks, advice for living the NIght Shift lifestyle. Hi,

I've lived with night shifts (both second, third and overlapping...arghhh) and it can be tough. My best advice is to make an effort to spend time together as a family even if it means having an odd schedule. For example, if your husband goes to work at 9 pm and gets home at 7 am, be sure to stay up until he leaves and get up before he gets home. Meal times are especially important. Can you get up to have breakfast with him, and make sure you spend a couple of hours together in the evening? Depending on the times, that may mean splitting your night's sleep into two chunks. It takes some time to get acclimated, but it will be worth it to have a stronger family life.  Smiley
