NGJ Bible Studies

We've been enjoying these NGJ bible studies found on ustream.com
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/the-church-at-cane-creek
One is for adults titled: Bible Questions
According to Mike on the first show...You can ask questions on the ustream chat box, or email them in at
podcast@nogreaterjoy.org
.
Here is a quote that tells you questions Mike answered in that show:
Quote
Would you like to know what the Bible says about things like: Where did Cain get his wife? Who received the curse mentioned in Genesis 9:25? What is the difference between devil possession and oppression? Does the Bible say Russia will attack Israel? Should Christian’s get political? What is the age of accountability? Where do babies / children go when they die? Is it true that “once saved...
I listened... and there were LOTS of 7xS questions. haha!
The other is done by the Unfolding Drama people and it's for kids. Creation Story is the title of that one. I liked it!

Few questions:
Where on the NGJ ustream section is the ustream chatbox located at? LOL I am dumb, okay!
Also, what days are the live questions asked? Is it just once a week or everyday?
Can someone submit like 20 questions? ha ha. I know my husband has wanted to ask Mike so many different doctrinal questions before.
Thanks, MommaK!

We've had the same difficulty, HIO.
I had to do a LOT of hunting/searching and FINALLY ran across this about Ustream:
Quote
Video or Chatroom Loading Errors
If you are experiencing problems connecting to chatrooms or connecting to streams, please check to make sure that the ports which allow chats and video streams to connect to your computer are not blocked. Often schools or companies place firewalls up which block these ports. They are port number 1935 for video streaming and port number 6667 for IRC chat.
Here is information on how to open the ports:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308127
(PC)
http://homepage.mac.com/car1son/static_port_fwd_firewall.html
(Mac)
I've updated my PC. I'm hoping that the next time the chat box is open, I can view it. So far, I haven't been able to see it and (I
think
, but don't hold me to this) you can only 'see' the chat box when the broadcaster has opened it . . . but I'm not sure.
Either way, I noticed at the last question and answer session, that there were several questions that had to be emailed in because more than just one or two viewers were not able to utilize the chat box.
It
WAS
neat seeing Mike field those 7xSunday questions.

As far as I can tell the chat box is always open.
There is a comment in there now.....
HIO, In the first bible study/questions..... they said you could email questions to:
podcast@nogreaterjoy.org
So, I guess you could sumbit your 1,000 questions that way.

Chat box has always been open on my screen whether I'm signed in or not. It's a one line looking thing on the right side of the screen opposite the video stream. The far right shows the others who are watching, and then there is a big empty box to the left of this where the questions should show up. It is at the bottom of this box where you type your question and hit 'send'.

Well then, that's NEVER shown up on my screen and still doesn't now . . . even with the proper ports open on my computer.
Just FYI, I've cleared out my cache, updated Firefox to the latest version and enabled the proper ports. . . . still no go.

I'm so glad you brought this to our attention, mommak. I may not have found them otherwise. The ngj website is kinda hard to navigate, imo.)
But how GREAT that they're doing this! I can't wait to see more.

Thanks for this explanation, Mrs. B. I hadn't yet figured everything out on that page.
We too were excited to find out about this Bible question time! But of course now that we have the opportunity we can't think of the 1,000 questions we've had over the years. ha!

HAHA!
That's funny Lotsaboys! I feel the same way!
If you go to the link I gave above (ustream.com --- church at cane creek). Then you can watch the previous bible study/questions time to see how it flows.
I found it very interesting.... and that's pretty good for me! Usually a man other than my husband doesn't hold my attention sitting and talking for a whole hour and a half. I think it was just the questions they choose to answer. VERY interesting.
Mrs.B,
Thanks for explaining the chat box. I didn't know it was there either until I saw someone type something. I was like "whoa"! How did I miss that staring me in the face! haha

So, how did it go? Were all the techno issues worked out?
Did any 7xS get to participate?
I just and thought it was super cool.
ETA: Looks like it's gone. I noticed there were some technical issues going on during the show. That might be why it won't be available.
The more than one wife answer/ vasectomy questions were the funniest!

Okay, it is much easier to figure out the chat box when they actually have a live show going on.
It is just right of the live screen.
This was a lot of fun! I can't wait for next Sunday.

Well, we don't have internet at our home to watch so this is what we did...we borrowed our daughters laptop and went McDonalds parking lot and paid for two hours of wireless! Too funny we had church in Micky dees parking lot!
it was worth it, we haven't been to "church" in a while now...the pews were pretty uncomfortable though. The car is small and cramped so we were pretty stiff when it was over. Actually we had some technical difficulties and didn't get to hear all the questions. We missed the one about the two wives and vasectomy. That sounds interesting.

The site is really neat!
But, how do you know when exactly the live Q&A sessions take place?
And, will those Q&A sessions be posted anywhere to watch/read at a later time, for those who missed it live?

I didn't get to watch it all and I also came into it late. There were 45 people already on when I came on, and initially the chat was there, but I logged on and then it kept having difficulty loading that chat box.... I did see and hear everything fine. I wasn't planning on asking a question or anything.... I just think it's cool to have Mr. Pearl do such a thing.
Beth, I also love the idea that you guys had church at McD's...

According to the NGJ site, it will be every Sunday at 2 CT, which is 3pm Ohio time.
You can go to ustream, type in Church at Cane Creek, and watch all the past sermons and Q & A ones.
Oh, wait, I just went to the site and the Q & A ones are gone? I wonder why? Maybe they are trying to get them up and going, again.

Okay, here is a quote from the ustream site:
Quote
Hello Everyone!!!
THANK YOU for watching and participating in our Ustream experiment.
There will soon be some changes in the way our content is distributed. In the coming weeks. all video and audio will be moved to the NoGreaterJoy.org site. There, the weekly messages and bible study/questions will be available FREE for one week. After one week, the shows will be archived at NoGreaterJoy.org.
We had a great turnout for our last Bible Study/Question time. Unfortunately, there were many technical breakdowns, and the footage wasn't recorded. So, be sure to tune in live next time if you can! (but, as stated above, we hope to offer the free footage for one week - live or not)
FOR NOW, keep checking Ustream, as we plan to have the weekly messages and bible studies.
Bible studies are Sundays, 2-4 CST.
Note: Nov 2 will probably be a week we take off, but we'll let you know for sure later.
Thanks Again!!!

Mike: Screams really loud twice <laughs in background> Next question.
That's it! lol I didn't get it either. ha ha
