1) The Bible Teaching board is now merged with the Bible Discussion board.
2) ANYONE can now post a new TOPIC in the Bible Discussion board.

    * The topic must address the Bible in some way.
    * If you are not a member of the Bible Discussion board, it must be a question.
    * If you are not a member of the Bible Discussion board, and you started the topic, you may make reply posts in the topic... but they must be limited to further on topic questions, clarifications, or expanded questions.

3) If you want to ask a question that relates to a topic in the Bible Discussion forum, but were not the original poster, you can either start a new topic (make it as distinct as possible)... or possibly PM the question to the OP or one of the participants in that thread to the member BibleQuestion.

PS: The above is NOW the case... what follows is what might happen in the future:

More thought is needed... but I might even do something like this:

1) Give a "banner" to Bible Discussion members in order to distinguish them from other members
2) Allow anyone to post in the Bible Discussion board who has shown clear understanding of the rules in other parts of the board.
3) Limit non-Bible discussion members to questions / expanded questions / clarifications.

To clarify... anyone can post a TOPIC... that is: a question. No one but members (men) of the Bible Discussion will be able to answer and continue posting under the OP.

For instance, a woman might begin a topic with a question:

"What does the Bible say about ____?"

Only members of the Bible Discussion board can answer. However, the woman who posted the question will be able to clarify her question by posting again:

"But what about ____?"

If another woman or man who is not a member of the Discussion Board wants to add a further question on the same topic, he or she can PM the person that made the OP the member BibleQuestion, and ask that their question be added to the thread, or they can start a new topic, and the mods will decide whether or not to merge the topics or leave them as separate threads.

To become a member of the Bible Discussion board you must:

A) Be male

B) PM me or Travis with your phone number so we can call you and verify A.

I like your thoughts for a "banner" for bible discussion members, but for clarification, do you mean women also?

No... um...

Right now women can post a new thread directly in Bible Discussion... a question.

Also, the OP can reply to their own thread: to clarify a question or expand it.

What I am thinking is that in the future, those men that are members of the Bible Discussion board will have some kind of a banner: sort of an, "approved to teach doctrine" badge... or maybe a "you can hit this guy hard, he fears God more than he fears you... he'll repent if you show him the error of his ways" badge.

Men who don't seem capable (yet) or willing to address and focus on the Bible, will loose this badge, but still retain Bible Study forum rights as long as they limit themselves to questions and learning.

This way, women too (those who have demonstrated they will limit themselves to Bible questions) may be invited to the Bible Discussion board... also without the "badge."

Maybe this is messed up... I am just trying to create a means for the most unencumbered manner of discussion while at the same time limiting access to (all) those who really want to engage the Bible.

Actually, I think that sounds like a good plan. Obviously there would probably be some moderation happening with new members who might not yet understand the system, but it seems like you guys do a lot of that already and I think your new plan might limit the amount of "correction moderation" that happens with older members. So, just my $.02, but it doesn't sound messed up to me!  Cheesy
