Usually editions of the KJV place the pilcrow mark (¶) after the number of a verse deemed to begin a new paragraph. Sometimes the number is set in boldface type instead. (I believe these marks are original—the same as in the 1611 edition.) But beginning with Acts chapter 21, there are no more ¶s. I suppose this is from the printer's being rushed to meet a deadline.

Does anyone have any idea why the 1769 edition didn’t correct this? And why are there so few modern editions of the KJV that break up the Bible into sections, let alone paragraphs in this part of the text?

Nobody knew what was in the Bible, so they didn't put the Para's in... heh... that was a joke. The irony is that evidently they didn't know what was in the Bible... so they didn't know there was an issue with the layout.

PS: How did you discover this? I never knew this until I started this sectioning project...

I read it while reading the New Cambridge Paragraph Bible. (There are some excerpts available there as well.)

This particular edition also restores more-or-less original punctuation to the text. (The common edition used today used 1769 punctuation—neither original nor modern.)

Wow... looks really interesting.

<rant>I am no friend of copyright commercial licensing of copyright (and I have written a lot of copy) but, man I really hate commercialization when it comes to the word of God. For those that don't know, all that I have written is "MIT license"... use it, change it, claim it, whatever... its my hope that the spirit and intent will remain. In any case, its not for sale or rent... from me anyway.</rant>

I wish there was an online version of the NCPB so I could diff it with the 1611 and the 1769.

There are also pilcrow marks to set off the book titles and subscripts. But large sections of the KJV elsewhere don't have them in the text itself: I couldn't find any in the Psalms, Proverbs, or the books of I Esdras through II Maccabees.
