I'm not sure if this should be a bible question or not?  Huh So please move as you see fit.  Grin

My husband and I were discussing the house of Joseph study the other day and I drew a comparison between the dispersion of Israel and the account in Judges 19-20 of the concubine who went a whoring and ended up cut into 12 pieces and sent throughout the coasts of Israel.  (and in case I'm not being clear here, I'm saying Israel was cut-possibly in 12 pieces- and sent throughout the nations just as the concubine was.  Both came to this "demise" after having gone a whoring.) What do ya'll think?

I don't really see a parallel. The Bible does not describe a scattering of 12 entities... it describes two entities (Judah and Israel) and the scattering of each of those specific groups. The reason that the deceased woman was cut into 12 parts and carried to the (then existing in the land) 12 tribes was to make a point that all were culpable of the iniquity of Benjamin.

To handle a dead body in this manner was extremely unclean according to the law, and the point was made that the uncleanness was carried to every tribe in Israel... thus all needed to participate in the judgment and putting away of iniquity.

On the other hand, Israel (as concerns the other nations) is clean... her scattering is not to make the nations unclean... rather to subject her to their dominion as prophesied many times by Moses and promised by God in the law.
