These are a couple of songs I've written. They have music too, and I hope they'll be available some are available as audios here: Songs for the Bride. Felt like I should at least share the lyrics now so that the Body might be encouraged. I need you all more than you know. It would be nice if we were closer... and we will be someday. Hang in there.

Patience of the Saints
(Rev 13:10; 14:12)

This is the patience of the saints;
Those who have suffered for my name
Who would not bow or bend the knee to any god, but worship Me
Only me, only me, only me.
I see every tear you cry and I'm right here by your side
You're beautiful to me.

You're beautiful to me, beautiful to me
Every move that you make, every loss you take
Is beautiful to me.

This is the patience of the saints;
Who for my coming hope and wait
You loved the truth that you heard, In every trial kept my word
Kept my word, kept my word, kept my word!
And when you laid down your life to be a worthy wife
You were beautiful to me.

You're beautiful to me, beautiful to me
Every move that you make, every loss you take
Is beautiful to me.

This is the patience of the saints
The Bride who shall not be ashamed
I'll wipe the tears from your eyes; dressed in garments pure and white
Pure and white, pure and white, pure and white!
Now enter into rest, inherit all my best
You're beautiful to me!

You're beautiful to me, beautiful to me
Every move that you make takes my breath away
You're beautiful to me!

On My Mind Hallelujah

I was born into this world facing trouble
And it caught me 'fore I even knew my name
Guess I would 'a died, but You came into my mind
And I lived to smile again another day.

On my mind when I'm dancing in the kitchen
On my mind when I'm smiling in my sleep
On my mind all the time; Hallelujah!
And there's nothing quite so sweet.

Rainy days are bringing me your rainbows
Mountains steep are teaching me your might
And weariness aside I'm feeling so alive
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Yeah... that's right...

On my mind when I'm singing in the shower
On my mind when I'm weary on my feet
On my mind all the time; Hallelujah!
And there's nothing quite so sweet.

On my mind when I'm weeping in the valley
On my mind when I'm on a mountain peak
On my mind all the time; Hallelujah!
And there's nothing quite so sweet.

Holy Habitation

A body without ears will never hear
A word the tongue may speak of Him to fear
Without eyes to see the way
Our feet may go astray
And these hands may ever idle stay.

Brother I will be a blessing to you
It's what I was made to do; it's what I was made to do...

'Cause we're a holy, holy habitation
I'm a stone laid upon your stone
Built without hands, unto the perfect man
And help meet to Him who dwells within.

Brother if you need a hand, I have two
And don't stop to wonder now if I need you
And if the tongue will speak
And if the ears will hear
The heart of us all may learn to fear

Brother I will be a blessing to you
It's what I was made to do; It's what I was made to do...

'Cause we're a holy, holy habitation
I'm a stone laid upon your stone
Built without hands unto the perfect man
And help meet of Him who dwells within.

Brother I will be a blessing to you
It's what I was made to do; It's what I was made to do!

Beka,

Thanks for those glimpses of your heart!  I love the attitude in those songs.  The first song there is so comforting!  I'm looking forward to hearing those set to music if you get the chance.  Thank you!

Thanks gals, I hope they'll be up as audios soon. And ladyhen, YES! I'd love that. Cheesy Part of the difficulty in recording me is that I'm not a musician... just a poet! LOL. I can hear the music, but, I can't really play any instrument well enough to make it worth recording. I would dearly love to have a band!!!  The first CD we made had a friend of mine that could really express my style, (but with a guitar ) playing most of the guitar parts. He is really good, and really far away.  Undecided

Gabe says he just needs a second mic, and then he can record me and my pathetic guitar accompaniment, then we'll have audios to load.   Smiley

love,

Beka

P.S. Gabe didn't call my guitar accompaniment "pathetic".... Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Please announce when you are selling recordings!   I'm anxious to hear them and will certainly buy one (or more!).

I'm considered pathetic on the guitar, too.  But I would love to come and try.   Cheesy

Oh, GLORY!!  Grin

Those are just beautiful and there are tears of joy in my eyes while I'm listening to  'On My Mind Hallelujah'!  What a blessing.  Thank you, thank you , thank you!
Would it be alright if my daughter and I learn and sing any of these?  (not to record or sell)

Please do! I don't mind if you record them too... just send me a copy  Wink. These are a first attempt at recording and editing, and might later be replaced with better recordings if we figure it out and get another mic. Other songs will be added next week.

The second song, which turned out poorly, is Psalm 9.

Everything that Beka and I write, sing or communicate (with the exception of Beka's screen plays, and probably my code if I write LinguaFranca) is released under the "MIT License" to everyone. This means you can re-record, re-produce, re-work and even sell said productions without asking... even without giving credit... as long as you ensure that others can use your version / rendition / etc in the same way. Our hope and intent is that it will bring glory to the Father and to His Son, Jesus.

Here is the MIT License if you are interested:

If any of you don't have her album that NGJ offers...get it.  It is wonderful.  And you can get the cassette for a dollar if you still have a player (or transfer it to mp3).

I watched that herb video just one time and the song " I Have Everything I Need" replays all the time in my head. I'm wondering if its on one of Rebekahs tapes or on here somewhere so I can listen to it?

OK, I uploaded "Everything I Need" from the "Practical Herbs" video, and a song she wrote in 1997 (I think) called, "Rachel's Song"... you will have to ask her about the full story on that song.

The songs are here: http://www.7xsunday.net/teaching-preaching/audio/music/

I'll bite.  Beka, I'm wondering, could you tell us the story behind Rachels song?  Wink  Because... it could be MY song.

LOL, that's awesome, D&L... my kids have been singing it too.

So... Rachel...

Rachel had a pretty hard life. She grew up in Jerusalem. Her parents had problems of their own and she was left pretty unprotected. She was tiny, cute... quiet. By the time she was about 8 years old, she was being caught and raped by a gang almost every day on her way to school. She soon learned to drown herself in vodka to dull the experiences she went through. They eventually moved to America and life improved somewhat, but there were never answers... never healing.

As a teenager she met a guy who was genuinely kind and loving. He cared for her like no one ever had. She began to travel with him and some of his friends. They snowboarded a lot, and in the evenings they sat around a campfire smoking pot and talking about religion and philosophy. Johnny, Rachel's boyfriend, was a seeker. One day he picked up a copy of the Bible and began reading the New Testament.

Every evening Johnny excitedly told the gang about Jesus Christ. He was amazed at the love in this man. He told Rachel "If this story is true, it will change everything. Jesus will change everything. There's nobody like him... he's exactly what I've been looking for."

Rachel was soon carrying Johnny's baby. They were both very excited about the idea of being parents, if a little unnerved about how they would accomplish such a task.

One evening, after reading portions of the New Testament aloud to the gang, Johnny and Rachel were in a terrible automobile accident.

Johnny died in Rachel's arms while telling her that Jesus was the real thing, and she had to find him... she had to.

The baby died too, and the next year was a haze of medical problems, deep depression and confusion, and slow physical recovery.

Rachel returned to Israel to be a volunteer in a Christian hostel. She was seeking, but in a very deep haze, having withdrawn from all the pain.

I was Rachel's roommate in that hostel in Israel. People called us "Pooh and Piglet" because I was so tall and she was so short. Rachel couldn't smell or taste anything since the accident so I was the "clothes sniffer" to let her know when her laundry was dirty. She didn't say hardly anything... and her eyes were so glazed over all the time that I wasn't sure if she could hear anything either. But I couldn't help but love her and sometimes when I didn't know what else to say, I would just play the guitar and sing. It always seemed to take the stress out of her.

Slowly she began to tell me pieces of her story. Without thinking about how I should respond, I naturally responded with deep horror, compassion, sorrow, tears... love for Johnny and her baby... and gratitude to God for saving her life.

I think the thing Rachel was missing the most was an objective perspective of her own life. She began to see herself through my eyes. More and more of the story came out. Once I understood what she needed, I actively began to respond with telling her God's perspective of Rachel... how much He DIDN'T want those things to happen to her. How much He loved her. How much He loved Johnny and the baby...

Her eyes began to clear. We backpacked northern Israel together. We camped by the river Dan and woke up next to a red sign that said "WARNING - MINE FIELD" and laughed at the irony. We biked around the sea of Galilee, ate lots of falefels, and talked about everything under the sun.

Rachel told me one day "I feel like I'm waking up. I didn't know God was like this... it's like falling in love or something..."

So I wrote her a song. Rachel couldn't sing any better than she could smell or taste, but she loved music. She loved her song.

One evening she came up to our dorm room and practically dragged me out the door, carrying my guitar in one hand. "There's a guy downstairs that is a guitarist... he's played with Eric Clapton, and lots of other amazing musicians. I told him about my song and he wants to hear it."

LOL... I nearly passed out. I can hardly play at all... I was mortified. But Rachel desperately wanted this guy to hear her song.

I'm not sure what he looked like. His hair hung down over his face, and he wore enormous shaded glasses behind the hair. He curled around his guitar lightly like a hummingbird curls around a flower, scarcely touching it, but so adept at gathering the nectar. He hardly said a word. He just waited.

I stuttered and stammered about my incapabilities... "Just sing it." He said. "I'll play."

So hesitantly I began. The man was amazing. I've never seen the like before or since. Soon I was belting it out with total confidence, loving the accompaniment that was fantastic. The room filled with people. Rachel was grinning ear to ear and telling people that it was "her song." I couldn't help but laugh at God's ingenuity; to share Rachel's story with so many people in such a shockingly glorious way.

"I like it." The hummingbird man said. "Sing another one." So for an hour, I sang songs I had written while he played accompaniment and the crowd grew.

I wish I had a recording of that moment, complete with music video of Rachel's delight.

We parted ways, and I've lost her contact info. I know that hard times weren't over for Rachel... the last I heard she was doing okay though. She was still hanging on to God. I still pray for her... and sing her song.
