I have been following the discussion between you and David Coles. Any Chance you could explain the last few posts for us "unlearned folks"? I really want to understand, but I feel like it is a foreign language to me all of a sudden.

Still praying for more faith and more confirmation, but so far I'm not being ignored Smiley    I just hope God knows that the economy is about to collapse and we're about to get locked down with Martial Law... God's timing, NOT MY TIMING...

Isaiah 8:11 For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying, Say ye not, A confederacy (read: conspiracy), to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. And he shall be for a sanctuary

I meant this to mean, "Maybe some fear the collapse of the economy, or martial law... and maybe they will even come to pass... but we fear God alone, and are led by God alone.

Isaiah 8:19-22 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God?  For the living to the dead?  To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.  And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse the their king and their God and look upward.  And they shall look unto the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness

It doesn't seem like the alternative is very good; I think there may be some real parallels between invaded and exiled Israel and the next ten years here in the US... I don't know if the Assyrians are coming, but something is.

I think what David is saying here is that starvation according to the Bible prophecy is not much better than economic collapse and martial law according to the "conspiracy theories" of the people... lol.

I would agree with that. But, in the one case people are in man's hand and in the other in God's hand... which is good for those that fear God (David numbers the people).

The point I wanted to make is that we should fear God. What I didn't mention, is that the whole book of Isaiah includes exceptions to every prophecy given to either part of the whole House of Israel (Israel or Judah). These exceptions are to those that hear and respond to the prophecies with repentance and right action. In the case of the above quoted texts, Isaiah 10:20 is just such an exception:

Isaiah 10:20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God. For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption (destruction) decreed shall overflow with righteousness. For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.

Fear God. Choose to be in His hand. He is Salvation.

For the record, I have been understood correctly  Cheesy

Boiled down, I think what I'm left to wrestle with is very much a simple debate of fearing God or fearing man (or at least the consequences of man).  With my earthly eyes, I look around and see impending doom - I seek God on the topic and I don't get back a "don't sweat it Dave, you're paranoid".  Rather, at least so far, I'm confirmed in my concern for the future of the world around me.

So everything is rosy, right?  Except that I look around and say "okay, time to go RIGHT NOW and get out of town and dig in and get ready for the storm" and God says "Not RIGHT NOW, sit tight for a minute".   Now begs the question - what am I more afraid of?  Am I more afraid of what I see as the coming economic collapse, or am I more afraid of God?  Am I alright with the possibility that God may want me in a "worse" place when the world falls apart for reasons that I can't imagine?  Do I trust him?

What made me laugh was the verse that I quoted two or three down from what Gabe quoted - basically it said "ignore God and all these terrible things will happen to you" and all those things are the VERY SAME things that worry me about the future - starvation, walking in a broken and dark land, etc...

So, God was like "okay Dave, you've got two choices - the world is going to end and be chaotic and I can help you and protect you if you follow the path that I have set for you, or you can ignore that path and take things into your own hands and try to save yourself, and all those nasty things will happen to you anyway."

hmmmmmm........ which one.....

Even though I'm antsy to get going and would kind of like God to "hurry up", I have to believe that he knows what's going on and when he says "hold up - just wait" that it's for reasons that I may or may not one day understand.

That's hard on a guy like me.

Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
