I asked this question on well tell me too, but am looking to try to find an answer pretty quickly.  Has anyone ever used this in a nebulizer as a respiratory therapy?  We are STILL fighting this "virus?" and have had to give dd Albuterol treatments.  Am looking for something more "natural".  Does anyone have any experience with this?  Any adverse affects?  Please help...

Thanks

Are you fighting a bacterial infection?  GSE is a strong anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and even anti-viral so it should help kill what is making you ill but I don't think it will help with congestion or bronchial constriction.  A lobelia tincture or oil will help with bronchial constriction and inflammation.  An onion politice will help with congestion about as well as anything else you can find.

Lots of fluid and rest will help you heal.  Wink  Praying for you to feel better.

Oh, Albuterol is a bronchial dilator, so GSE will not do what Albuterol does.  I think I would hesitate using GSE in a nebulizer.  Undecided  It is a potent natural product that kills all bacteria, both good and bad...  I would absolutely do some research before I tried using it like that.

Thanks, we are living on lobelia tincture around here.  Actually I really believe that is what is keeping us from going back to the hospital.  (Well, the Lord is, but you know what I mean) anyway, Yes, we are also doing onion poultices.  Honestly I don't know what this is.  The doctor (and the hospital) said it is viral and it will "go away", but we have been fighting it since the end of November/first of December.  I was hoping that the GSE would kill the virus in the lungs...we have been giving it internally to the older ones and aren't really seeing great success there either.  Have been burning sage/mullein. Have been eating lots of garlic, backed off on the immune boosters (echinacea etc.).  I confess I just don't have any more ideas.  Also have done eucalyptus and sage oil.  Rubbing mullein/garlic oil on the chest, goot on the feet...I can't even remember everything we have been doing.  I will say the cough tea from Bulk herb store is helping to keep the cough in check especially during the day, but at night......  Nothing seems to be helping them get over it, everything just seems to keep the symptoms at bay.... any other thoughts would be appreciated.

My thoughts are that it appears you are doing well fighting the symptoms of the virus, but that the virus continues to hang in there.

I would think it best to continue treating the symptoms while employing the use of some anti-viral remedies. Yarrow falls into this category and can be combined with peppermint in an infusion.

I found the following on www.botanical.com:
Quote
An infusion of equal quantities of Peppermint herb and Elder flowers (to which either Yarrow or Boneset may be added) will banish a cold or mild attack of influenza within thirty-six hours, and there is no danger of an overdose or any harmful action on the heart. Peppermint tea is used also for palpitation of the heart.

As far as using medical equipment to administer GSE or other herbs, I wouldn't. A nebulizer was designed to deliver pharmaceuticals in precise doses in a precise way. Depending on the brand, the process used to produce your GSE might possibly involve harsh chemicals and alcohol (ethanol). Inhalation of this along with any trace toxins would give this immediate access to the circulatory system, organs & brain. That's not something I'd be tempted to try.

GSE is something I would use more as a preservative for topical applications (salves, etc.) and in cleaning products. Although I don't currently use it, I have in the past. I've found other remedies to be preferable.

I second the onions, but also strongly recommend mustard plasters and Mullein as a decoction and tea.
Hope your family is much better soon!

Rabbit tobacco....the best herbal replacement for abulterol I've tried yet. WhiteRock is the expert.
Let me go get a link....http://www.welltellme.com/discuss/index.php/topic,19973.0.html

It really helped my little ones through pertussis, and I had a virus earlier this year that caused episodes of bronchial constriction. Kept a pot of infusion on the stove to heat when I got into a spasm. A few breaths is all it takes to dilate the airways. Ran a weak tea through a steam humidifier in a closed room at night.  Amazing herbal! Very strong.
It works best in a steam or smoke. I think you *could* use it in a nebulizer, but there is some cautions about using non-sterile treatments with the nebulizer.

Hi CKSMOM,

Have you looked into the possibility that you are dealing with toxic mold?  When everything is tried, and there are no results, sometimes that can be the issue.  A home could have mold even if it is a new home and you can't see it or smell it.

Mold could also be in other things too.  One time some family friends of ours had a situation similar to yours.  They are very into natural remedies and tried, literally, everything, but stayed sick for months.  They were eventually able to trace it back to a used water filter system that they had purchased used.  The filter in it was full of mold.  The whole family had been drinking moldy water.  Tongue  Once they changed the water filter they all got better, but it did take months to track it all down because it was such an obscure thing.

Just a thought.  Hope that helps!  Smiley

Well...thanks everybody.  We think we have figured out what our "recurring virus" is....pertussis.  Have been to the doctor and no one mentioned pertussis until yesterday.  After much research we truly believe this is this is the issue.  At least now I can get an "attack" plan.

As a side note of PRAISE to the Lord Jesus...this past summer I foraged and dried red clover leaf "for some reason".  Have never done it before.  I truly feel that the Lord put it in my heart to gather it, as red clover is one of the best herbs for whooping cough.  It was such a confirmation to my heart that Jesus loves me and knows EVERYTHING from beginning to end and even when I don't understand the big picture, He is looking out for me.  There are other things that I could mention in just this circumstance but time prevents.

Thanks all for thinking of us.....

PRAISE HIS NAME FOR HIS MERCY ENDURES FOREVER!!!!!
