Does anyone have some advice as to how to find a 12 passenger van for a reasonable price?  Can't seem to find any online.  We have a tax return coming and would like to upgrade to from our Suburban to van, just in case  Smiley.  Also so we can give people rides to church, etc if we need to.  How much should we expect to pay for one?  Any advice appreciated.

I never bought from this site, but a local government excess property center uses this. It shows excess government property up for auction. Just an idea.

Have you tried Craigslist?  That is where we found our van.

Have you considered getting the 15 passenger instead of the 12?  When we were expecting #6 we moved up from an Astro.  We looked at the 12 passenger vans, but they have no cargo room!  We decided to get the 15 passenger Chevy Express.  We have just taken the back seat out leaving seating for 11 and a good deal of cargo area.  And if we are going to be hauling a lot of people, we just put the extra seat in.  I know another family that has the 12 passenger and they wish they had gotten the larger van.  I also think they are more common and therefore easier to find.  And I don't think there is much difference in gas economy.

It is big, but with the extended wheel base (which you don't find on the ford or dodge vans) it handles very nice and doesn't seem that big when driving it.  It is only when parking it and making sure it doesn't stick out too far that it seem really big.   Just something to consider.

And to give you an idea- We bought our van in Sept '08.  It is an '01 LS model Express with fold out doors instead of a sliding door.  It was in good shape- not perfect with some cosmetic problems and 101,000 miles.  It was another homeschool family that was downsizing since their kids were leaving home.  We paid $6300 for it.

We bought our 12 passenger van off ebay.  It was only a year old and we feel like we got a really good deal on it.  We did have to drive a couple of hours each way to pick it up, but we have been very happy with it.

We just found a good deal for our 12 passenger Dodge on Craigslist.  The dealership that was selling had a "special" online deal and the cost of the van was lower than what they had marked on the lot.  So don't completely ignore the dealerships.  We also had to drive a ways to get it although my mother was able to physically look at it and drive it before we made a full decision.

2001  77K miles for about $7ooo.

We prayed a lot and never did see a good deal until we had the money in the account.  Its like God wouldn't even allow us to be tempted to use the credit card or borrow money.   Cheesy

We found one on Craigslists.  My husband flew down to Florida with our pastor who is a mechanic and drove it home 2 days ago.  We really like having the room!  It is a Chevy Express 2003 15 passenger van with 74k miles for 6800 plus travel, taxes, minor repairs, etc.  The kids really like not being so squished.  Thanks for the advise.
