This thread is for favorite song lyrics... a personal favorite "spice of life" for me!

Blessed Be Your Name

Blessed by Your name in the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness Blessed be Your name.

CHORUS:
Every blessing You pour out I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in still I will say,
Blessed be the name of the Lord, Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord, Blessed be Your glorious name.

Blessed be Your name when the sun's shining down on me
When the world's "all as it should be" Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name on the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering Blessed be Your name

You give and take away, You give and take away
My heart will choose to say Lord, Blessed be Your name..

Here's mine.

Praise You In This Storm

I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen"
and it's still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God
Who gives and takes away

Chorus:

I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God
Who gives and takes away

Chorus

Bridge:

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

Oh, I needed to add this.  My children and I put a tune to a poem written by you, Rebekah.  I think it is called, Diapers & Teddy Bears.  We love it and sing it to little ones when they come to visit.

I am a "hymn" person, I just love them.  This is my favorite by Charles Weigle:

I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus,
Since I found in Him a friend so strong and true.
I would tell you how
He changed my life completely;
He did something no other friend could do.

Chorus:
No one ever cared for me like Jesus;
There's no other friend so kind as He.
No one else could take the sin
And darkness from me;
O how much He cared for me.

All my life was full of sin when Jesus found me;
All my heart was full of misery and woe,
Jesus placed His strong arms about me
And He led me in the way I ought to go.

(Chorus)

Ev'ry day He comes to me with new assurance;
More and more I understand His word of love.
But I'll never know just why He came to save me,
Till someday I see His blessed face above.

(Chorus)

My older sister who I very much admire contracted a rare virus called Guillane-Barre.  This virus eats away the mylan sheath surrounding your nerves and basically leaves the victim paralyzed.  She felt felt funny for a few days and experienced some numbness and loss of motor skills.  Went to the ER and 3 days later was in the ICU completely paralyzed yet in extreme pain and hooked up to a ventilator with a traech tube because she wasn't even able to breathe on her own.  The only motor skill she was left with was the ability to move her mouth.  She had a 5 year old daughter and a brand new baby at home and  I sat in her hospital room and watched her mouth the words to this song, and it has changed me forever.  NOTHING makes me come as undone as singing Great is Thy Faithfulness.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Refrain

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Refrain

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Refrain

Sheri stayed in the hospital for 3 months and was discharged for home with the ability to walk (unheard of with Guillane-Barre patients).  After several more months of physical therapy, she made a complete recovery!  God was Faithful INDEED!

Blessed Be Your Name is one of my most favorite songs, ever!!

I also like this verse from Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing:

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.

I also like nearly ALL the lyrics to the songs by Shane & Shane. I listen to them over and over. www.shaneandshane.com

I love song lyrics!! Fun post!!

Blessed Be Your Name is one of my most favorite songs, ever!!

I also like this verse from Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing:

We must be twins jessyru!!   Grin  My little girl and I were singing "Come Thou Fount" this morning....love it!

I was going to post the lyrics for "Blessed Be Your Name" as that one is always near and dear to me...lo and behold it was the first lyrics posted!   Cheesy  The Lord really ministered to my heart with that one when I miscarried a couple of years ago.  To this day I can't get through it without crying - and I'm not an emotional person....I love praise and worship!

Another GREAT worship song is Surrender by Marc James

Surrender

I'm giving You my heart and all that is within me
I lay it all down for the sake of You my King
I'm giving You my dreams, I'm laying down my rights
I'm giving up my pride for the promise of new life

Chorus:
And I surrender all to You, all to you
And I surrender all to You, all to you

I'm singing You this song waiting at the cross
And all the world holds dear, I count it all as loss
For the sake of knowing You, the glory of Your name
To know the lasting joy in sharing in Your pain

Chorus

My Three Boys And My Joy

WWW
« Reply #6 on: May 05, 2006, 10:07:19 AM »

After our 13-day-old daughter passed away, coming home from the hospital empty-handed was the most devastating thing my husband and I had ever experienced.  But, when I looked into the faces of my two little boys the Lord said, "You have these two blessing, now raise them up to honor me."  He gave me the grace to go on and the determination to do a better job with those who I still have with me.  The Lord has done so much for our family!  He gave us a baby boy a year later and now I can say I have one child who is already in the fold!  During the time of recuperation one of my favorite songs was...

Tell It To Jesus

Are you weary, are you heavy hearted?
Tell it to Jesus, Tell it to Jesus
Are you grieving over joys departed?
Tell it to Jesus alone.

Chorus:
Tell it to Jesus, Tell it to Jesus
He is a friend that's well known
You've no other such a friend or brother
Tell it to Jesus alone.

Do the tears flow down your cheeks unbidden?
Tell it to Jesus, Tell it to Jesus
Have you sins that to mens eyes are hidden?
Tell it to Jesus alone.

Are you troubled at the thought of dying?
Tell it to Jesus, Tell it to Jesus
For Christ's coming kingdom are you sighing?
Tell it to Jesus alone.

Psalm 16:11 "Thou wilt shew me the path of life, in thy presence is fulness of joy, at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore."

Yeah, that's sweet. I've always thought the most fantastic and beautiful mark of a true child of God is the REAL joy they have all the time.

A joyful person just talks about how good God is, and all the blessings He gives, and how sweet it is to talk to Jesus... So that most people think "boy, that person has had an easy life - nothing bad ever happens to her, and that's why she can be so happy..."  And then they find out that Jesus is the reason.

And the onlooker doesn't go away talking about how tough you are, and what a heavy trial you've been through - instead they go away thinking and talking about Jesus, because you were SO convincing.

 What a testimony!  Thanks for sharing.  Smiley

I just read this whole thread for the first time and the phone rang.  I didn't even realize I was crying until I tried to talk!  (Good thing it was just my hubby!)  If there's anything that gets me crying (Especially when I'm pregnant!)  it's being reminded of the faithfulness of the Lord to bring His children through the unimaginable so that they can praise Him twice as loudly.  I am thankful for sisters like you who have triumphed in the Lord so that you can comfort others with the comfort you have received.         ~L

I have so many favorite songs!  Anything by Keith Green makes me close my eyes and lift my hands so I'm not allowed to listen to him while I drive.    Grin
  I don't have the Lyrics for this one, but Mary Barret also sings a great song.  ("When I die don't cry for me, In my Father's house I'll be....")

I LOVE Mercy Me and this song of theirs has been stuck in my head a LOT lately...

Mercy Me
Homesick
from their album, Undone

You're in a better place, I've heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you
But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways
The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know
But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same
Cause I'm still here so far away from home

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

In Christ, there are no goodbyes
And in Christ, there is no end
So I'll hold onto Jesus with all that I have
To see you again
To see you again

And I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

I've never been more homesick than now

My heart swells with praise to my Jesus every time I hear this song! For me, its absolutely a beautiful blend of music and lyrics. What a great salvation!
~B

O Glorious Love!
<Verse 1>
In my darkness Jesus found me,
Touched my eyes and made me see.
Broke sin's chains that long had bound me.
Gave me life and liberty

<Chorus>
O Glorious Love of Christ my Lord Divine.
That made Him stoop to save a soul like mine.
Through all my days and then in heaven above,
My song will silence never,
I'll worship Him forever,
And praise Him for His Glorious Love!

<Verse 2>
Oh amazing Truth to ponder,
He whom angel hosts attend.
Lord of Heaven, God's Son what Wonder!
He became the sinner's friend.

I could probably list several dozen songs (I love music), but I wont...ok maybe some of the titles.  I do like "Blessed be Your Name", "I can only Imagine", Tom Agnu's "Grace like Rain", "God of Wonders"  , "A Mighty Fortress" just to name a few...here is the one that came to mine when I read the topic.

Before the Throne of God Above
by  Charitie L. Bancroft,

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in Heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.

Behold Him there the risen Lamb,
My perfect spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I AM,
King of glory and of grace,
One in Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood,
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God!

I have so many, it would take a looong post, but here's just a few...

Lamb of God  (author?)

Your only Son, no sin to hide
But you have sent Him from Your side
To walk upon this guilty sod
And to become the Lamb of God

Your gift of love they crucified
They laughed and scorned Him as He died
The humbling King they named a fraud
And sacrificed the Lamb of God

O Lamb of God, sweet Lamb of God
I love the holy Lamb of God
O wash me in Your precious blood
My Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God

I was so lost, I should have died
But you have brought me to your side
To be lead by your staff and rod
And to be called a lamb of God

O Lamb of God, sweet Lamb of God
I love the holy Lamb of God
O wash me in Your precious blood
Till I am just a lamb of God

Once Again by Matt Redman

Jesus Christ, I think upon Your sacrifice
You became nothing, poured out to death
Many times I've wondered at Your gift of life
And I'm in that place once again
I'm in that place once again

And once again I look upon the cross where You died
I'm humbled by Your mercy and I'm broken inside
Once again I thank You
Once again I pour out my life

Now You are exalted to the highest place
King of the heavens, where one day I'll bow
But for now I marvel at Your saving grace
And I'm full of praise once again
I'm full of praise once again

Thank You for the cross
Thank You for the cross
Thank You for the cross, my Friend

Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder by Jars of Clay

Let us love and sing and wonder
Let us praise the Savior's name
He has hushed the law's loud thunder
He has quenched Mt. Sinai's flame

Let us love the Lord who bought us,
Pitied us when enemies,
Called us by His grace and taught us,
Gave us ears and gave us eyes

He has washed us with His blood
He has washed us with His blood
He has washed us with His blood
He presents our souls to God

Let us wonder grace and justice
Join and point to mercy's store
When through grace in Christ our trust is
Justice smiles and asks no more

He who washed us with his blood
He who washed us with his blood
He who washed us with his blood
Has secured our way to God

Let us praise and join the chorus
Of the saints enthroned on high
Here they trusted him before us
Now their praises fill the sky

He has washed us with his blood
He has washed us with his blood
He has washed us with his blood
He has washed us with his blood

Based on a hymn by John Newton (1725-1807)

Better is One Day by Matt Redman

How lovely is
Your dwelling place
Oh Lord Almighty,
For my soul longs
And even faints
For You
For here my heart
Is satisfied (is satisfied)
Within Your presence
I sing beneath
The shadow of
Your wings

Better is one day in Your courts
Better is one day in Your house
Better is one day in Your courts
Than thousands elsewhere

One thing I ask,
And I would seek,
To see Your beauty
To find You in
The place Your glory dwells

Better is one day in Your courts
Better is one day in Your house
Better is one day in Your courts
Than thousands elsewhere

My heart and flesh cry out
For You, the Living God
Your Spirit's water to my soul
I've tasted, and I've seen
Come once again to me
I will draw near to You

Better is one day in Your courts
Better is one day in Your house
Better is one day in Your courts
Than thousands elsewhere

My husband just left for Malawi, Africa tonight and reading all theses songs helped me to see what blessing there is in trusting our Lord in all things. He will get us through all joys and trials because He is our God. What a great Lord!!! My son who is two asks me to play, "blood of the Lamb, mom." and when he prays it sounds so sweet, "thank you blood of the lamb, keep daddy safe airplane africa...." Praise God for our children!!! And our spouses who follow the Lord. Thank you for all your posts. I printed many out so I can sing to my children in the morning of the Lords faithfulness and power!

Lewis E Jones  1899

There is Power in the Blood

“They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” Revelation 7:14

Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is power, power, wonder working power
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide;
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain

Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow.
There’s wonderful power in the blood.

Refrain
Would you do service for Jesus your King?
There’s power in the blood, power in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There’s wonderful power in the blood.
Refrain

This is the song i wake up with almost everymorning and if i'm grumpy i remind myself to sing it..."  THis is the Day, This is the Day
          That the LORD has made (that the Lord has made)
        I will rejoice (I will rejoice)
        and be GLAD in it (and be GLAD in it)
        (repeat repeat rinse and repeat)
Simple, I know and short but I would sing this with my kids and then it just became the prayer song of my heart every day. my earlier morning reminder sometimes half heartedly grumbled over a cup a coffee. But never fails to cheer me up.Specially when my 4 year sings it... "THis is the day that the Yowd has made...I will wejoyf and be gad in him"

OH and quick cute story-when  my nephew was 5 he was sitting in the backseat of the car with his wailing newborn baby sister and he was singing GOD IS IN CONTROL by Twila Paris and covering his ears!! Grin

I also have very many favorites.  If I had to pick it would be this one, not just because of the words, but the story behind it.

This hymn was written after two major traumas in Horatio G. Spafford’s life. The first was the great Chicago Fire of October 1871, which ruined him financially (he had been a wealthy businessman). Shortly after, while crossing the Atlantic, all four of Spafford’s daughters died in a collision with another ship. Spafford’s wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram, “Saved alone.” Several weeks later, as Spafford’s own ship passed near the spot where his daughters died, the Holy Spirit inspired these words. They speak to the eternal hope that all believers have, no matter what pain and grief befall them on earth.

It Is Well With My Soul

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Refrain

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

Refrain

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

Refrain

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

Refrain

But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!

Refrain

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

Refrain

I love It is Well with My Soul, jaemom.

My favorite lyrics are the ones to " Does Jesus Care?", especially the last verse. (I love you M!! :-))

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press, and the cares distress
And the way grows weary and long?

Does Jesus care when my way is dark
With a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades,
Does He care enough to be near?

Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed
To resist some temptation strong;
When for my deep grief there is no relief,
Though my tears flow all the night long?

Does Jesus care when I’ve said “goodbye”
To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks,
Is it aught to Him? Does He see?

Refrain

Oh yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Oh and I forgot, but I may as well post the lyrics to the song my username "A Little More" is from. It's by a Christian rock band called Skillet. The words themselves might seem a bit too simple or something at first, but the first time I heard this song, it really just went with everything God had been teaching me lately. When you listen to what the words are implying, it's really powerful. Where the earthly man, the natural man wants to lash out in anger or be spiteful or cold, or quit altogether, there is Perfect Love which casteth out fear. (Isn't that what leads us to so much meanness and anger? Fear.) I just love the words, "Love can take a little, Love can give a little more." (1 Cor. 13) And the part that says "Let the world crash, love can take it" reminds me so much of what I learned in Mrs. Pearl's Created book. Every time I hear this song, I just want to praise God for the gift of love. Love is the reason we can keep going with out fear, no matter what's happening around us, and have joy. Smiley

A Little More by Skillet

Love is all around you now
So take a hold
Hidden in our words
It sometimes ain’t enough
Don’t suffocate day after day
It’s building up
Cause when you’re feeling weak
You know I’m strong enough

Just one more day
One more day

Oh, let the world crash
Love can take it
Oh, let the world come crashing down
Oh, let the world crash
Love can take it
Love can take a little
Love can give a little more

Love is indestructible
So take a hold
Sometimes hard to find
A reason good enough
I’ll stand beside you
Never leave through it all
And faith will bring a way
To the impossible

Just one more day
One more day

Oh, let the world crash
Love can take it
Oh, let the world come crashing down
Oh, let the world crash
Love can take it
Love can take a little
Love can give a little more

You can find me anywhere
Take a look over your shoulder
I’ll be standing there
Standing there

Love is all around you now
So take a hold
And faith will bring a way
To the impossible

Let the world crash
Love can take it
Oh, let the world come crashing down
Oh, let the world crash
Love can take it
Love can take a little
Love can take a little
Love can take a little
Love can give a little more

Mercy!! So many wonderful songs. Here is one of my favorites.  I love the tune as well as the words. I have been following the life of a little girl. She is 1 yr older than my daughter. I don't know her family personally but she was diagnosed with a very rare form of liver cancer.  Unfortunately her family doesn't seem to know about natural things but they do seem to exhibit a very strong faith in God.  She has had chemo and and a liver transplant and now the cancer is back so they have to do it all over again.  I think of them and then I remember this song.

Day by Day

Day by day and with each passing moment strength I find to meet my trials here; Trusting in my Father's wise bestowment, I've no cause for worry or for fear. He whose Heart is kind beyond all measure gives unto each day what he deems best - Lovingly, it's part of pain and pleasure mingling toil with peace and rest

Every day the Lord Himself is near me with a special mercy for each hour: All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me He whose name is Counselor and Power. The protection of His child and treasure  is a charge that on Himself He laid; "As they days, they strength shal be in measure, this the pledge to me He made.

Help me then in every tribulation, So to trust Thy promises O Lord, That I lose not faith's sweet consolation offered me within Thy holy Word.  Help me Lord, when toil and trouble meeting, E'er to take as from a fathers hand, One by on the days the moments fleeting till I reached the promised land.

Beautiful song.  When my Emma was born she wasn't breathing well, she was very limp and had to go straight to ICU.  The Lord allowed us a couple of hours to trust him to do what was best.  Thankfully she was ok, but a very scary time.  I am so thankful He chose me.  I am so unworthy to be His child.  Thanks for this thread.  Didn't know it was here until this evening but it is great to stop and think of our blessings.

I love Come thou Fount.  It reminds me of my mom rocking grandchildren in the rocking chair.  It has a perfect rhythm to rock to.  Now there's a great reason to love a song, eh?   Anyway, I'll post one of my favorites:

Count it all joy when you fall into various trials brethren
Count it all joy when temptation is found in your way
Count it all joy and then count on the one who'll deliver you
God's own Son
He is the one you can count on Count it all joy

Ask in faith when you pray
He will give you all the wisdom you will need along the way
To let your patience have it's perfect reward
And receive the blessings of the Lord

Telling His story giving Him glory
Gettin the Gospel out
Taking salvation to every nation
Spreading the word about
Evangelizing baptizing
Love is what we're about
He is the power and now is the hour
Gettin the Gospel out

As my Father has sent me
Even so send I you
Go forth in the land
Teaching My Command
Finish My Work by the Spirit in you

Take my love to the children
Tell them to pass it along
Build a mighty band
of believers in the land
I will be with you and I'll make you strong

Come Thou Fount is such a great song. It reminds me, though, of my husband's grandmother, who loved to sing hymns around the house before she got Alzheimer's. One time as she was singing this song, for probably the thousandth time, she stopped and asked, "What on earth is an Ebenezer??"  Cheesy She was always accidentaly funny. We sure miss who she used to be.  Smiley

I know this is a bit of an old thread but when I found it I had to add in mine...
By Caedmons Call
I ran across an old box of letters while I was bagging up some clothes for goodwill
You know I had to laugh that the same old struggles that plagued me then are plaguing me still
I know the road is long from the ground of glory but a boy can hope he's getting someplace
but you see i'm running from the very clothes i'm wearing and dressed like this i'm fit for the chase
no, there is none righteous  not one who understands
there is none who seek God
no not one, no not one
I am thankful that i'm incapable of doing any good on my own
'cause we're all stillborn and dead in our transgressions
we're shackled up to the sin we hold so dear
so what part can I play in the work of redemption
 I can't refuse , I cannot add a thing
'cause I'm just like Lazarus and I can hear your voice
I stand and rub my eyes and walk to you
because I have no choice
I am thankful that I'm incapable
of doing any good on my own
it's by grace i have`been saved
through faith that's`not my own
it is the gift of God and not by works
lest anyone should boast

the tune is great too...good house cleaning music

Ephesians 5:2

« Reply #25 on: July 11, 2006, 07:21:07 AM »

I'll never get over all that Jesus has done for me. How He has chosen to love me, I cannot begin to comprehend, but I know it's true! One of my most favorite songs is one that tells of the difference when Jesus comes.

When Jesus Comes
(repeat chorus after each verse)

verse 1
One sat alone beside the highway begging,
His eyes were blind, the light he could not see.
He clutched his rags and shivered in the shadows
Then Jesus came and bade his darkness flee.

Chorus
When Jesus comes, the tempter's power is broken;
When Jesus comes, the tears are wiped away,
He takes the gloom and fills the life with glory,
For all is changed when Jesus comes to stay.

verse 2
From home and friends the evil spirits drove him,
Among the tombs he dwelt in misery;
He cut himself as demon powers possessed him,
Then Jesus came and set the captive free.

verse 3
"Unclean, unclean!" the leper cried in torment,
The deaf, the dumb, in helplessness stood near;
The fever raged, disease had gripped its' victim,
Then Jesus came and cast out every fear.

verse 4
Their hearts were sad as in the tomb they laid him,
For death had come and taken him away;
Their night was dark and bitter tears were falling,
Then Jesus came and night was turned to day.

verse 5
So men today have found the Savior able,
They could not conquer passion, lust and sin;
Their broken hearts had left them sad and lonely,
Then Jesus came and dwelt, Himself, within.

Here is an especially special one to my husband and me - I walked down the aisle as it played... *sigh* Cheesy

How Beautiful
        by Twila Paris

How Beautiful the hands that served
The Wine and the Bread and the sons of the earth
How beautiful the feet that walked
The long dusty road and the hill to the cross
How Beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

How Beautiful the heart that bled
That took all my sins and bore it instead
How beautiful the tender eyes
That choose to forgive and never despise
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

And as He lay down His life
We offer this sacrifice
That we will live just as He died
Willing to pay the price
Willing to pay the price

How Beautiful the radiant bride
Who waits for her Groom with His light in her eyes
How Beautiful when humble hearts give
The fruit of pure love so that others may live
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

How beautiful the feet that bring
The sound of good news and the love of the King
How Beautiful the hands that serve
The wine and the bread and the sons of the Earth
How Beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

Beeyoutiful,

This may be a long shot, but could you type or PM me the lyrics to your songs from the  From the Ends of the Earth tape.  My daughter and I love to sing it in the car when we do errands together.  But let me share my dilemma with you.  This is what we are singing:

Pikininni, Pikininni, you come down on Jesus
Big pig mela big pella
Jesus liken' you
sousa, brada, papa one time mama
holy cow me-n-Jesus liken' you
holy cow me-n-Jesus liken' you

See!  We have done a grave injustice to the pidgin language.  We have a blast laughing in the car until we almost pee, but it would be nice to know all the words.  Wink

I LOVE "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring"  The version sung by Josh Groban is what I walked down the aisle to at my wedding   Grin

The lyrics to the original Bach piece are below:

Jesu, joy of man’s desiring,
Holy wisdom, love most bright;
Drawn by Thee, our souls aspiring
Soar to uncreated light.
Word of God, our flesh that fashioned,
With the fire of life impassioned,
Striving still to truth unknown,
Soaring, dying round Thy throne.

Through the way where hope is guiding,
Hark, what peaceful music rings;
Where the flock, in Thee confiding,
Drink of joy from deathless springs.
Theirs is beauty’s fairest pleasure;
Theirs is wisdom’s holiest treasure.
Thou dost ever lead Thine own
In the love of joys unknown.
