Hello ladies!  My name is Kelsey and I am new to this forum.  I was blessed with Debi Pearl's Help-Meet book last fall and it has TOTALLY changed my marriage dynamic and my thoughts and attitude about being a woman.  It is wonderful!  I still struggle a lot, though and I feel really fortunate that God is patient with me.  I was raised in a pagan (if anything) household in Alaska and spend the first 22 years of my life being completely selfish and worldy, though I thought I was a "good person".  Out of the blue I had a radical revelation of Jesus Christ, provoked only by God himself!  I just woke up one day and knew that Jesus was with me.  It's hard to explain how profound this was because I was in no way influenced by or open to Christianity and never had been.  This experience led me, within two weeks, from bartending in Alaska to taking care of my Christian cousin's children in Tennessee.  Her church was "charismatic" (which I still don't think I know what that means) and being a new convert everyone was eager to guide me.  I was eager, too, in my new faith and read the Bible front to back with fervor.  Within a year I fell into a horrible depression because what I was seeing in the church (and the bible-belt around me) as well as the indoctrination of other people was very conflicting with the information I found in the Bible and the Truth that had been lit in my heart.  I thought that I must be having some kind of ongoing delusion and was literally crazy.  Within 2 years my fierce passion had waned into a loose "anything goes" philosophy.  I still knew that Jesus had spoke to my heart but I didn't know what it meant or what to do with it.  It was hard losing the connection with my friends and family as well (they also thought I was crazy- for being a Christian!)  Anyways, two weeks before I was headed to California I met my husband, Josh.   ...sigh...!  I knew right away he was my husband and it is bringing tears to my eyes right now as I type to think of God's wonderful mercy and love in bringing us together.  Dayenu.  It would have been enough that He saved me.  Oh, sorry to gush...  I really didn't mean to tell this whole story (and I also didn't get around to what I meant to say!)  Long story short: God led us out of the church and into the wilderness.  It feels long and I am lonely for true church.  I am waiting for God to show Josh the way we are supposed to go with this.  That is one of the many reasons I am thankful for Debi's teaching and for finding this forum: It is so refreshing to find people who have some of the same beliefs as we do.  I look forward to being a part of this community and to having a chance to learn from all these awesome posts!  Later!  Smiley Kelsey

Ahh, thank you to whoever moved my intro to the right place lol!

To answer the other questions I saw in the OP, I live in Austin, TX right now. I noticed that Rebekah said she's from Gallup, so I wanted to tell you I'm a fellow New Mexican also-- originally from Roswell.  Wink

I moved to TX for college and ended up staying. I still have some friends in Roswell but unfortunately by now most of my family has moved away from there so I haven't been back in over 3 years.  Sad

I sooo miss the NM sunsets and cool nights.

Hey andiclare...i'm a former new mexican too!!  I was born in silvercity and spent most of my growing-up years in alamogordo.  Some of our dearest friends lived in roswell and we visited a lot.  What a small world.

Hi,

I've been on Welltellme for awhile, but just ventured over to 7x.  I have been saved since 11 and married 17 years, with 3 children, age 14, 10 and 6.  I homeschooled my 14 yo for 7 years and my 10 yo for 3, but sent them to school this year.  My DH got a job working 3rd shift last summer and it would have been rough for him to have all the kids home, esp. both boys.  Anyways, we try to live as healthy and naturally as possible (grind grain, make other staples, low salt, buy whole grain, etc. etc.)  We're going to try to start a garden again this summer.  We liked Debi's article about using the cardboard boxes and will try that.  I hope it's not too late to buy heirloom seeds, as our season doesn't start here in WI until late May.  If you think of it, could you pray for us?  We've missed so much church this winter due to sickness or my DH trying to adjust to the weekend.  My relationship with the Lord isn't where it should be either.  I should be reading my Bible instead of on this computer!  On that note, I'm saying goodnight.

Yup, I'm very familiar with Alamagordo. Never been to Silver City but I've known people who were from there.

This is great, I never saw so many fellow New Mexicans on one board lol.  Cheesy

When I went to college at the University of Dallas, I remember telling one of my dorm neighbors (a Yankee from Up North) that I was from New Mexico. She said, "wow really?! I would never have guessed, you speak perfect English!"

My name is Jessica (Jesi to those who grew up with too many Jessicas around!).  My husband and I live in a tiny town outside of Denver, Colorado, although I’m originally from Kansas.  We have three fun kids – Elijah, 5, Ariana, 3, Jedidiah, 1.  Number four we’re expecting to see sometime in the next 8 weeks, around the beginning of June!

I heard about this site when poking around the No Greater Joy site.  Debi’s book, Created to Be His Helpmeet was one of the larger turning points in my life – sounds like a common theme for folks here!

Anyway, I’ve appreciated the views I’ve seen here on 7xSunday.  Thanks for having me!

Welcome Jesi!  Grin

Kansas, huh?

I'm originally from southeastern New Mexico and currently live in Texas. My fiancee is an Irishman who gre up in the UK. Before the year is out, and after we're married, we are going to be moving either to Ohio or Kansas. (How's that for being all over the place? LOL)

The town we'd be moving to is Lawrence (know anything about it...?). I've never been to Kansas, so I have some mixed feelings about this whole thing.  Undecided So...where in Kansas are you from?

God bless,
Andi

Hi, andiclare!  Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!  Sounds like you have quite the background between you and your fiancee!

My whole family is from Newton, KS and Osborne, KS.  Still spend a bit of time in each town and our family has a farm out in Osborne.  There's nothing anywhere near there, though!  Lawrence is a pretty nice town -- only about half an hour from Kansas City, and it is home to University of Kansas, so there's a lot of younger folks there.  There's a few movies made about it, too, where it's one of the few places to survive after nuclear war...  Grin

Anyway, Kansas is a nice state to live in.  I miss seeing the fireflies out there in the summer -- none out here in Colorado!  I think you can really grow to love it...

Hi. I have been reading 7xSunday for a few weeks, though I saw it a couple times in '06, I think it was. Shortly after reading it a couple of times, we moved, and didn't have online access for a while. Then I forgot about it! In the past few weeks I have found here above all a wish that -- that-- that you people could be our neighbors!! Waaaaa! Okay, no whiners.

I'm washed in the blood of the Lamb, and I'm wife and mom. I used to be a lot of other stuff, mostly for empty, worldly pursuits. We have six kids, one of whom is due to be born at the end of January, 2010. We lost at least five babies, all toward the end or at the end of first trimester.

I love learning about how to be a Godly wife and mom. I fell to my knees before the King after 4.5 years of marriage (3 children at the time), supposedly having been a Christian prior to that. CTBHHM wasn't even out yet, but a couple of Debi Pearl's articles, plus "Me, Obey Him?" really got me. In fact, those few months were like a blitzkrieg by God against this old flesh and my old ways. We have been going in a totally different direction ever since. That direction is that of my husband's choosing, and I have never been happier, nor more aware of the running over of my cup. Just prior to that blitzkrieg (not that the war against my flesh is over), DH and I were miserable, and knew that we would stay together only because neither of us was willing to relinquish even one minute of custody of the children. That is the ugly, old truth. But NOW it can be said of US that which Michael Pearl said of Gabe and Beka in an article: "...They will never divorce." And NOW, it's not because of thoughts of custody thoughts! I remember that quote from NGJ, word for word, because the confidence it exuded gave me hope, even though courtship wasn't our path to marriage. It was one of the ropes onto which I hung (hopes can be like ropes, with regard to clinging), and its context has informed decisions we have made in the raising of our growing family.

We've prayed to meet people who believe like we do. I asked pastor's wife after pastor's wife, older lady after older lady in the churches, for help with going from trailblazing, domineering, self-righteous feminist to obedient, joyful wife and keeper at home, and they all shook their heads, asserting that they were equals with their husbands, and wouldn't have any part of that; keeper at home was not for them. After struggling about it in prayer for a while, out came Beka's article, "An Apple Tree Like Me". Oh, no, I thought: That's not the answer I was looking for! We were (still are!) such babies in all this. But since the acceptance of this idea, God has been merciful, both to give us a LITTLE of what we had asked for, and quite a bit of opportunities to minister to others with what we have learned, not very much at all in direct teaching, but rather in what they see when they encounter us. Seems like it brings out in them questions we can answer; people seem to ask for help with their problems. God puts in us compassion for them, and a desire to become involved in their lives, and to pray for them. I can now see Beka's point.

There's so very much more to write to you, and I love to write, but I don't really have the time! Many posts there have been here to which I have wanted to respond, but so many thoughts come that I realize I'm not going to have time to finish the response. God knows what is best for me, and though He gave me a burning desire to learn languages, make music, read, write and make art, He mostly now allows me these venues in the context of loving and helping my husband and loving and mothering our children.

I would love to share sometime about our current situation, and how God seems to keep us in the dark about where we will live next, yet in a fun way, and how He teaches us to make the most of every opportunity in our present community to be of service and to learn, while He prepares the future. My husband excels in so many areas, and leading our family is at the top of the list. He is quiet with others, and doesn't like many social situations (mainly he likes being with us or learning one-on-one from an older man), but in our community he has, as behind-the-scenes as possible, helped so many families and individuals. He surveys, is a cartographer, is an engineer technician, builds, landscapes, plumbs and wires houses, designs houses, is excellent at farming, plans our future, and delights us with his presence. I love to listen to everything he says. Writing this makes me miss him terribly, though I know he'll be home in a few hours from work. He has a vision to help men and their sons to build their own house. He helps others in smaller ways, like with garages, sheds and their room additions. My husband reads the Word of God to us. My husband! Reads the Word of God! To Us!

Hope to write more sometime soon. I appreciate this site very much. Thank you. God bless you all richly.
Love,
Helen of the Dallmans

Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself.  I'm not sure when I was officially registered, but I'm glad to be here.  I have lots of questions and I think this is the place to help me.  BTW, is there a way to start a new topic or do I just have to reply to one?  I didn't see a new topic like/tab.   I have a great husband and 6 kids.  I can't stay long right now but will come back later.

Thanks for this forum.

Hi everyone.  I've been lurking around here for a couple of months or so i guess.  Grin
I'm Cat from NZ. I have been married to my high school sweet heart for over 12 years. We have 8 dc so far -4 boys and 4 girls aged 11y-8m.
6 of our 8 children have been homebirths the last one being unassisted due to a lack of midwives in our area and me labouring way to fast to travel to the hospital 1hr away. Shocked
We live on a small farm with a variety of animals.  We have always home schooled our dc, and are enjoying learning along side our children as neither my DH or myself retained a lot of what we 'learnt' in public school.
We are currently home churching as well, fellowshipping  with a few other families once a month or so and listening to an online service most weeks.
Thank you to Gabe and Beka and the moderators for your hard work. I really appreciate being able to find some answers to my questions, and some thought provoking discussions making search the scriptures further to see if it's so..  Smiley
