Wow, I really like the Bible discussion that the moderator pointed to.  The first 4 posts have a great way of answering the heart of the questions here on this thread!

ROFLOL! Does he know that Mike Pearl is a Jew?

There are lots of Michael Pearlmans in the world, so it was a wise choice to go with the abbreviated version, if only to make finding him online easier!

Um, let's see, follow-up question:

What exactly DOES Mike Pearl teach on the Sabbath?

Here is a question for the moderator, about the threads on this topic:

Would it be possible to separate this topic into two lines, one for discussions among Torah-Following Christians, and one for discussions among NON-Torah-Following Christians?  It seems that many threads in this board evolve into whether or not we should follow the Torah, but I would also like to see some discussion about the Sabbath, apart from Torah-following in general.

Is Torah-following going to become the central issue of this forum?

Torah following is either correct according to scripture or it isn't... in either case, the only position that this forum is interested in as a matter of mandate, is the one that the Bible teaches.

My personal opinion is that this is complex in that is seems to me that Paul and Peter both agreed in the NT that Jews of their day needed to continue to follow the law to some degree... possibly completely which I don't fully understand. It is also evident to me (Ephesians, Galatians) that Paul concluded sons of Israel that no longer knew they were of Israel as gentiles as concerns the law... and of course gentile believers had no requirement to follow the law... but did indeed seem to have been instructed to know it and understand it...

So... even though the current onslaught seems a bit overwhelming... if you don't mind, I'd like to play it to its appropriate end (proper interpretation of scripture coming from the body of men, putting private interpretation to silence) without cutting anything off prematurely.

Okay,
I've been really interested to read this thread, and the bible discussion one about keeping the sabbath.
from what I understand so far, it seems that we christians (gentiles) don't HAVE to follow the law? In that we can do work on our sabbath , just like Jesus did.
But I was wondering, what everyone thinks about still having a day (any day) of rest?
Reason I ask is because today after church I got out a folder and started doing some work for uni, and my bro-in-law andy said to me "Gen, do you have a sabbath?"

i was confused, and he went on to ask me if i had one day of not doing any work. i told him i didn't, and he thought i should.
so I went and looked up some scriptures and then found this thread, and i'm still a bit confused. Is it okay to work on sundays? (or whatever day a person might use to fellowship with other believers etc.)

 Huh

Is it possible that doing work for the Lord is okay, whilst doing work for other reasons isn't?  I wondered that because of this story in Mathew

" 9And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
10And, behold, there was a man which had [his] hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
11And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift [it] out?
12How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days."
