After a long and drawn out labor, baby Thomas Nathaniel was born breech at home!  The Lord was with  us and we REALLY appreciate the prayers!

I could really use some prayer, I think my immune system was low after surgery (antibiotics through IV - yuk) because I've come down with a really bad flu.  One of the worst things about it is that I can't keep down my pain medication so all my messed up bones and incisions are hurting really bad. thanks

I got over the flu and my arm is healing so fast I got to skip the plaster cast stage and go straight to the removeable splint, and I've been out of the splint for the last week.  The surgeon and physical therapist keep saying they can't believe how fast it healed and how fast the range of motion is coming back.    I believe  know that prayers and herbs are responsible (mostly prayers).  The initial break was 5 weeks ago, an unstable fracture that left my radius bone in three seperate peices, then the surgery 4 weeks ago where multiple screws and pins were drilled into the bone to attach a metal plate - and today I don't have so much as a band aid on the arm and it's perfectly normal other than a bit of stiffness.  Pretty awesome huh?

Ummm.... I know that your plates aren't magnetic, but will you have trouble flying or having anything to do with metal detectors? Sorry, I had to ask!

They said they wouldn't be a problem, but then the underwear bomber fiasco happened and they're talking about making those detectors more sensitive, so....

Please, please pray for my children.  My youngest dd was hospitalized with "RSV" (that's what they said) in early December.  We are STILL battling a respiratory infection in all five of our children.  Chronic dry coughing, worse at night.  They are not getting any rest at all (neither are we).  Please pray for healing and if you have any suggestions, please let me know.  We are doing every herbal\natural thing I can think of...lobelia,echinacea\goldenseal,ALJ (nature's sunshine),eucalyptus,sage,lavendar,and pine oil.  OTC expectorants...I am wore out.  We do praise the Lord that over the weekend He was merciful in keeping us from going back to the hospital with the baby. Anyway....please pray for our children...thanks...

Praise the Lord.  Thank you for praying.  We actually were able to get some sleep last night.  I truly believe it was from the Lord.  Please continue to pray for full healing and recovery.

I'm not sure, but I heard that swine flu can/does come with a respiratory aspect and it can last for months. You may want to read the swine flu thread on WTM. There is some good info, even if that's not what it is. And if it is swine flu, there are some who advise not giving immune boosting herbs due to cytokine storm (I'm sure I butchered that word, lol!) Anyway, you can read there and there is good info on it.

My thyroid levels are still very low, and the dr has increased the dosage again.  Wouldn't be such a big deal for a few months, except for the pregnancy; thyroid is important for proper development (brain/vision, etc)... I know the Lord is in control, but the doctor is getting pretty concerned - and that is not overly comforting.   

Also, my white blood cell count is at 12,000 (should be 4,000 - 10,000)... Dr not sure what this means yet, as I don't seem to have any infection.  Even when I had the thyroid cancer removed my wbc wasn't elevated... ?  Anyway, please pray as you feel led...

CKS have you guys done "smoke" for any length of time? Like burning pine needles, mullein or sage? Filling the house with smoke?

Runamok, are you taking Iodoral or anything like it? Can't recommend it enough... as well as a full spectrum mineral supplement.

I have tried to burn the pine needles.  The only problem I am running into is that my front stove burner just burns the needles really quickly and my simmer burner is so back under the range hood and the smoke doesn't really come out enough to be a benefit.  Even tried it on my woodburner, but it has a casing around it and the temperature on top isn't enough to smoke the needles.  Any other suggestions for how to burn them.  Even tried using a oil lamp without the chimney and a chafing dish rack with a sterno can.  Would love any suggestions....The cough is very dry.  Today tried the ginger and honey.  Ginger baths, cut out the immune boosters.  The only other thing I did was make some goot for their feet and added oregano oil.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated.  Oh, one more thing.  Did add pine needle oil to the bath as well as eucalyptus oil. 

Still praying for you Run Amok and you also Rebekah, are you feeling any better?

CKSMOM, we get a bunch of candles that are in glasses, big, small, whatever, and put the pine needles into the tops on top of the wax, and light it. Sometimes we have to light it again. It doesn't fill the house with smoke, but a couple of people can sit there and wave it into their faces.

Hey all...  First off...  The following blog may be helpful regarding the burning of herbs/incense/needles etc.  http://survivalscoop.blogspot.com/2010/01/herbs-as-incense.html  I haven't tried this yet, but would love to make some "smudge sticks" to have on hand.

Second... Thank you for the prayers -- the pms and notes here have been a real blessing!  I went in for a partial exam (ha) today.  They were able to immediately pick up the baby's heartbeat, so that was good!  Because my due date is still very much in question, they scheduled me for an ultrasound tomorrow.  My thyroid levels are definitely off - normal TSH is supposed to be between .4 - 4... Mine is 12.45.   

At the moment, the point of the medication (levothyroxin  ) is actually to prevent the other half of my thyroid from working (I know, opposite of how we all would feel is "right" - but they are hoping to keep my thyroid from working and  thus, possibly, producing new cancer cells.)  With the pregnancy, I don't have a choice but to follow the meds closely as more fluctuations could be really harmful to the little one.  After the pregnancy, I will be making some different decisions regarding support (not suppression) I believe, but husband and I still have more research to do first.

Anyway, thank you for the prayers and the suggestions...  I hadn't heard of the Iodarol, so did a quick browse earlier.  It looks like really GREAT stuff!!

Please pray for our 1 year old... I found a purple lump on his gums that is bleeding.  He doesn't seem to be in any pain, but we have no idea what it could be or what to do for it

 It's not bleeding anymore.    What age do they get molars?  He is 14 mos.  but all his teeth have come in a little later than "normal".

I found 10-14 months for first molars at one site.  Maybe it's teething, hope so..

It is teething!  We noticed it was smaller to we got a flashlight (the baby LOVED having us pry his mouth open for that! ) and there was a tooth!  I am so glad it wasn't as serious as it looked!

DH is trying to quit smoking. He was using nicotine gum but it makes his mouth hurt so he's not using it much. He's smoked for about 40 years & he has a hard time quitting. He's tried many times but always ends up going back to it. Please pray that this time he will quit for good. TIA. Love in Christ ~herbalmom

Had my ultrasound today: the baby was moving around and seemed active during the us, so that was good - but things are not measuring up right.  The baby is only measuring at 12 weeks... but both midwife and doctor figured me to be closer to 16 weeks by outside measurement, cycle information, heartbeat and baby movement I have felt.  ? 

Not sure what this means, as I haven't had a chance to talk with the doctor or mw yet - but going backwards, datewise, from a 12 week date today, this puts me having had a cycle at around Nov 8, then taking pregnancy test 2 weeks later (and I KNOW that didn't happen.)  Also, using the baby's current measurement date, this would have me feeling movement since the baby was 5 - 6 weeks... 

Anyway, just doesn't seem to match up... so, if you feel led to pray, please just pray the Lord's will for our situation.  Obviously, worrying won't change anything!
